Live Action
Live action refers to a movie filmed by a human holding a camera.
It can have many visual styles, e.g. the visuals of the Barbie Movie, Star Wars, and/or Spiderman all have very different feels.

3D
3D refers to objects modeled in a computer in 3 dimensions. The 3D model lives in the computer as does the camera, lights and colors.
In this way, 3D movies mimic the Live Action process. As technology gets better, the results have gotten more realistic.

2D
2D movies use flat images in motion. Think: a painting, a sketch, an Illustration in book; all moving over time.
A 2D movie would be cartoon-like. The Lion King is a great example.

Motion Graphics
This genre began as moving icons and typology. But as time progresses, the movements have become more sophisticated blurring with 2D story telling.
However, it is often marked by simple shapes and simple movement.
Each style is capable of a wide range of visual and emotional storytelling
